measures of Inflation in India

چکیده
india has experienced persistently high inflation in recent years, despite a period of below-trend economic growth. As a result, controlling inflation has become a key objective for policymakers. The two main indicators of inflation in india are the wholesale price index (Wpi) and the consumer price index (cpi). Although the Wpi has traditionally been the most widely used measure for assessing inflationary pressures, the Reserve Bank of india (RBi) recently conducted a review of its monetary policy framework, which recommended adopting a flexible inflationtargeting regime, based on headline cpi inflation. This article outlines the two main price measures available for the indian economy and discusses their role in india’s monetary policy.

Core Inflation and Economic Growth, Does Nonlinearity Matters? A Nonlinear Granger Causality Analysis
T his empirical analysis endeavors to trace out the causal nexus between core inflation and economic growth from the perspective of twenty worlds’ leading economy with the help of the nonlinear Granger causality approach by using time series data from 1981 to 2016. Based on nonlinear Granger causality results, it has been found that there is unidirectional casualty running from core ...
متن کاملTwo-warehouse system for non-instantaneous deterioration products with promotional effort and inflation over a finite time horizon
In the current global market, organizations use many promotional tools to increase their sales. One such tool is sales teams’ initiatives or promotional policies, i.e., free gifts, discounts, packaging, etc. This phenomenon motivates the retailer/or buyer to order a large inventory lot so as to take full benefit of promotional policies. In view of this the present paper considers a two-warehous...
متن کاملInflation Targeting in India: Issues and Prospects
Inflation targeting (henceforth IT) has emerged as a significant monetary policy framework in both developed and transition economies. It has been in place for a decade or more in a number of countries — with around 20 central banks adopting it as their basic monetary policy framework. Some authors have argued that for transition economies undergoing sustained financial liberalization and integ...
متن کاملTwo-Warehouse Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Time-Dependent Demand and Partial Backlogging Under Inflation
This paper deals with a two-warehouse inventory model for deteriorating items with time dependent demand and partial backlogging under inflation. It is assumed that deterioration of items follows two-parameter Weibull distribution and demand rate varies exponentially with time. Shortages are allowed and partial backlogging depends on waiting time of next replenishment. A numerical example is pr...
متن کاملRevisiting the Effects of Growth Uncertainty on Inflation in Iran:An Application of GARCH-in-Mean Models
This paper investigates the relationship between inflation and growth uncertainty in Iran for the period of 1988-2008 by using quarterly data. We employ Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity in Mean (GARCH-M) model to estimate time-varying conditional residual variance of growth, as a standard measures of growth uncertainty. The empirical evidence shows that growth uncertain...
